If you don't have one I can refer you to several in our area. You can choose the one that's best for you. There are mortgage programs available exclusively for first time buyers. One is the VHDA Plus or FHA 30 year 1st Time Buyer Mortgage. These loans qualify for the new 2009-2010 $8000 Tax Credit.
- The $8,000 tax credit is a no payback or true refundable credit, unlike the credit of 2008. You must have contracted by April 30, 2010 and close by June 30, 2010. If you qualify as a first-time buyer (i.e., haven't owned a primary residence in the past 3 years), and are within the income limitations you may be able to realize the full credit. The adjusted gross income limit is $75,000 for single and $150,000 for joint filers. I will provide more details however I recommend contacting your tax expert to see exactly how this new credit applies to you.
